Calculate the molality of 1 litre solution of 93% `H_2 SO_4` by w/v
`[""^(d) H_2 so_4 = 1.84 g//cc]`

A

`3.17`

B

`8.5`

C

`12.4`

D

`10.42`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

Mass of `H_2 SO_4` In `100 m l = 93 g`
`rArr` Mass of 1000 ml `H_2 SO_4` solution = volume * Density `= (1000xx 1.84) = 1840 g`
`therefore` Mass of water in 1000 ml `H_2 SO_4` solution
`=(1840 - 930)g = 910 g`
`"Molality" = ("Number of moles of solute")/(" Weight of solvent in kg")`
`=(((930g)/(98)))/(((910)/(1000)))=10.43`
