Two parallel plate capacitors A and B having capacitance of 1muF and 5muF are charged separately to the same potential of 100 volt. Find the final charges on each capacitor and the total loss of electrical energy in the capacitors.

(Transportaion problem) : There are two factories located one at place P and the other at place Q. From these locations, a certain commodity is to be delivered to each of the three depots situated at A,B and C. The weekly requirements of the depots are respectively 5,5 and 4 units of the commodity while the production capacity of the factories at P and Q are respectively 8 and 6 units. The cost of transportaion per unit is given below: How many units should be transported from each factory to each depot in order that the transportation cost its minimum. What will be the minimum transportation cost?

Two containers A and B have the same volume. Container A contains 5 moles of O_2 gas. Container B contains 3 moles of He and 2 moles of N_2 . Both the containers are separately kept in vacuum at the same temperature. Both the containers have very small orifices of the same area through which the gases leak out. Compare the rate of effusion of O_2 with that of He gas mixture.

There are some experiment in which the outcomes cannot be identified discretely. For example, an ellipse of eccentricity 2sqrt(2)//3 is inscribed in a circle and a point within the circle is chosen at random. Now, we want to find the probability that this point lies outside the ellipse. Then, the point must lie in the shaded region shown in Figure. Let the radius of the circle be a and length of minor axis of the ellipse be 2b. Given that 1 - (b^(2))/(a^(2)) = (8)/(9) or (b^(2))/(a^(2)) = (1)/(9) Then, the area of circle serves as sample space and area of the shaded region represents the area for favorable cases. Then, required probability is p= ("Area of shaded region")/("Area of circle") =(pia^(2) - piab)/(pia^(2)) = 1 - (b)/(a) = 1 - (1)/(3) = (2)/(3) Now, answer the following questions. Two persons A and B agree to meet at a place between 5 and 6 pm. The first one to arrive waits for 20 min and then leave. If the time of their arrival be independant and at random, then the probability that A and B meet is

A parallel plate capacitor has plates A and B each of area 0.5m^2 and a plate separation of 0.2 m. A dielectric slab of thickness 0.1m and dielectric constant 2.5 is placed between the two plates as shown - (a) FInd the capacitance of the capacitor, if the surface charge densities of the two plates are 8.854xx10^(-10)Cm^(-2) . (b) Graphically represent the variation of electric field between the two plates from A to B.
