Although boric acid `[B(OH)_3]` contains three -OH groups, yet it is sparingly soluble in water-why?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Boric acid molecules form cyclic two-dimensional associated giant molecule through intermolecular hydrogen bonds. So it finds little or no opportunity to form hydrogen bonds with water and is hence, sparingly soluble in water.
