Why are the four C - CI bonds in`CCI_(4)` equivalent?.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

In the formation of `C CI_(4)` molecule,a carbon atom with `sp^(3)` - hybridisation (containing four equivalent `sp^(3)` - hybrid orbitals) uses is hybrid orbitals to form four C - CI bonds with four CI - atoms. So these C - CI bonds are all equivalent.'
