Calculate the double bond equivalent (...

Calculate the double bond equivalent (DEB) of a compound having molecular formula, `C_(5)H_(8)`. On catalytic hydrogenation. Write the structures of all the possible isomers of the compound.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

DEB of `C_(5)H_(8)` = `(5(4-2)+8(1-2))/(2)+1=2` on hydrogenation it consumes 1 mol of `H_(2)` . So it contains one double and one ring. Thus possible strutures of the compounds are-
