A is `R-CHBr-CH_3` and is `RCHBrCH_2Br`.
The alkene,HBr and the formed alkyl bromide (A) are all colouless. So, the left reaction cannot be used to detect ethylenic unsaturation. On th other hand , the alkene and the formed diboromoalkane (B) are colouless but bromine has reddish-brown colour. so, the right reaction can be used to detect ethylenic unsaturation because decolourisation of bromine takes place in this reaction.
