A water sample has ppm level concentration of following anions, `F(-)=10,SO_(4)^(2-)=100, NO_(3)^(-)=50`.The anion/ anions that make/makes the water sample unsuitable for drinking is/ are

A

only `F(-)`

B

only `SO_(4)^(2-)`

C

only `NO_(3)^(-)`

D

both `SO_(4)^(2-) "and" NO_(3)^(-)`

Text Solution

In drinking water if the concentration of `SO_(4)^(2-)` is more than 500 ppm, it shows laxative effect and it is not suitable for drinking. If the concentration of `SO_(4)^(2-)` is less than 500 ppm, it is consumable.
In drinking water if the ncentration of `NO_(3)^(-)` ion is more than 50 ppm it causes methemoglobinemia disease. Thus is not suitable for rinking.
If the concentration of `F^(-)` ion in drinking water is more than 1 ppm it damages teeth and bones. Thus it is not suitable for drinking
