If the ratio of masses of CH(4) and N(2)...

If the ratio of masses of `CH_(4)` and `N_(2)` in a gaseous mixture is `1 : 4` then what will be the ratio of number of molecules of them in the mixture ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

In the gaseous mixture the ration of masses of `CH_(4)` and `N_(2)` is 1:4
`therefore` the ratio of mole no of `CH_(4)` and `N_(2) is = 1/6 : 4/28`
`therefore` the ratio of the number of molecule of `CH_(4)` and `N_(2)` is
`=1/16 xx 6.022 xx 10^(23): 4/28 xx 6.022 xx 10^(23)`
`= 1/16 : 1/7 = 7 : 16`
