RCI , an organic chloride, undergoes hydrolysis in presence of a large excess of water `(RCl+H_(2)OrarrROH+HCl)`
Find the molecularity and order of the reaction.

If a reaction takes place in presence of excess water , the change of concentration of water is negligible and remains almost same.
Rate of the reaction = `k[RCl][H_(2)O]`
As `[H_(2)O]` remains almost constant,
Therefore , `k[H_(2)O]` = constant = k'
`therefore` Rate of the reaction = k'[RCl]
Hence , in presence of excess water , hydrolysis of RCl becomes pseudo first order reaction . Thus the order of the reaction is 1.
Number of molecules participated in the reaction is 2 . So the molecularity of the reaction is 2 .
