What will the activation energy of a reaction be if rate constant equals the frequency factor ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

At a particular temperature , if rate constant (k) and frequency factor (A) are same , then according to Arrhenius equation , `k=Ae^(-(E_(a))/(RT)) " or, "1=e^(-(E_(a))/(RT)) `
or, `1^(0)=e^(-(E_(a))/(RT)) " or,"-(E_(a))/(RT)=0 " or, "E_(a)=0`
Therefore , activation energy is zero.
