Why is desorption important for a substance to act as a good catalyst?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Desorption is one of the steps which is involved in heterogeneous catalysis. In this step, product molecules leave the surface of the solid catalyst and thereby provide space for new reactant molecules to get attached to the surface. This ensures the continuation of the reaction.
