3g of activated charcoal was added to 50 mL of acetic acid solution (0.06N) in a flask. After an hour it was filtered andn the strength of the filtrate was found to be 0.042 (N). The amount of acetic acid absorbed (per gram of charcoal) is-

A

18 mg

B

36 mg

C

42 mg

D

54 mg

50 mL 0.06(N) acetic acid solution contains `(60xx50xx0.06)/(1000)g = 0.18 g` of acetic acid. After adsorption , remaining amount of acetic acid =`(60xx50xx0.042)/(1000)g = 0.126 g` of acetic acid Therefore,amount of adsorbed acetic acid per gram of charcoal =`(0.18-0.126)/(3)g = 0.018 g= 18 mg`
