How many types of salts are obtained when `H_(3)PO_(4)` reacts with NaOH?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Due to the presence of three ionisable O - H bonds in `H_(3)PO_(4) [O=P(OH)_(3)]` , it is a tribasic acid.

Therefore, it reacts with NaOH to form three types of salts and these are `NaH_(2)PO_(4) , Na_(2)HPO_(4)` and `Na_(3)PO_(4)`
