Why is-ozone used for purifying air in crowded places like cinema halls, underground railway stations, tunnels, slaughter houses?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Bacteria and virus are easily destroyed by the strong oxidising nature of `O_(3)`. Ozone (an endothermic compound) easily decomposes to `O_(2) , 2O_(3)to3O_(2)` , which also destroys impurities and germs by oxidation. Hence, ozone is used for purifying air in crowded places.
