`V(CO)_(6)` can be easily reduced to `[V(CO)_(6)]^(-). V(CO)_(6)` has 17 bonding electrons for which it is very reactive and unstable. On the other hand `[V(CO)_(6)]^(-)` has complex set of 18 bonding electrons, as an electron is added into the bonding orbital when `V(CO)_(6)` gets reduced to `[V(CO_(6))]^(-)`. Rest of the compounds have 18 bonding electrons.
