Which of the following options are correct for `[Fe(CN)_(6)]^(3-)` - complex -

A

`d^(2)sp^(3)` hybridisation

B

`sp^(3)d^(2)` hybridisation

C

paramagnetic

D

diamagnetic

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
A, C

Explanation `[Fe(CN)_(6)]^(3-)` is an inner orbital octahedral complex. So `Fe^(3+)` ion has `d^(2)sp^(3)`- hybridisation. In presence of `CN^(-)` ions, electronic configuration of `Fe^(3+)=3d^(5)(=d^(2)^(2)d^(1)d^(0)d^(0))`. So the complex has paramagnetic character.
