The unit of rate constant of a chemical ...

The unit of rate constant of a chemical reaction is `L^2. mol^(-2).s^(-1)`. Calculate order of the reaction.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

For a n-th order reaction,
unit of k= `(mol.L^(-1))^(1-n).s^(-1)` ....[1]
For the given reaction,
Unit of rate constant = `L^(2) . Mol^(-2).S^(-1)`
= `(mol.L^(-1))^(-2).s^(-1)` ....[2]
Comparing equation [1] and [2] , we get,
1-n =-2 or , n=3
