Why cooling is caused by evaporation?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The evaporting molecules present on the surface of the liquid need some energy of the overcome the intermolcular forces of attraction. They take up this energy form the rest of the molescules. As a result, their temperature gets lowered and cooling is caused during evaporation.
