Green plants use carbon dioxide for photosynthesis and return oxygen to the atmosphere , even then carbon dioxide is considered to be responsible for green house effect. Explain why ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Because of rapid deforestation that is taking place, the consumption of carbon dioxide by green plants has considerably reduced. Moreover, large amount of the gas is also being released in the atmosphere by the burning of fossil fuels such as wood, coal, petroleum etc. and also during the formation of lime `(CaO)` by heating lime stone `(CaCO_(3))`. The gas is therefore, responsible for green house effect leading to global warming.
