Explain why propanol has a higher boiling point than hydrocarbon butane ?

Propanol (Propan-1-ol) and butane are of comparable molecular masses `60u` and `58u` respectively but the boiling point of propanol is higher (391 K) because of the presence of intermolecular hydrogen bonding in the molecules. However, it is not present in butane due to the absence of polar `OH` group. The only attractive forces are weak van der Waals forces. Therefore, the boiling point of propanol is more than that of butane (309 K).
