Springs Aand B are identical except that A is stiffer than B. In which spring more work is done if(a) both are stretched by same amount ? (b) both are stretched by the same force ?

As `F = kx, x = F/k` Further, as `F` is the same, `W_A = 1/2 k_A x^2 = 1/2 k_A((F/(k_A))^(2) = 1/2 (F^2)/(k_A)`
Similarly, `W_B = 1/2 (F^2)/(k_B)" "` Thus, `(W_A)/(W_B) =(k_B)/(k_A)` As `k_A > k_B`, and as such `W_A < W_B`.
