How does ploughing help to retain some water of soil ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

When the fields are ploughed, the radius (r) of the capillaries in the soil increases. As a result of this, the height (h) to which water can rise into these capillaries decreases ` h prop (1)/(r )` Obviously, the moisture in the soil does not rise to surface to get evaporated and as such water is conserved in the soil.
