Which of the statements about solution of electrolytes is not correct?

A

Conductivity so solution depends upon size of ions

B

conductivity depends upon viscosity of solution

C

Conductivity does not depend upon solvation of ions present in solution.

D

Conductivity of solution increases with temperature

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Solution consists of electrolytes is known as electrolytic solution and conductivity of electrolytic solution depends upon the following fac tors.
(i) Size of ions As ion size increases, ion mobility decreases and conductivity decreases.
(ii) Viscosity of solution Greater the viscosity of the solvent lesser will be the conductivity of the solution.
(iii) Solvation of ions Greater the solvation of ions of an electrolyte lesser will b e the electrical conductivity of the solution.
(iv) Temperature of medium conductivity of solution inc reases with increase in temperature.
