Consider a cell given below.
`Cu|Cu^(2+)|Cl^(-)|Cl_(2).Pt`
Write the reactions that occur at anode and cathode.

Text Solution

Cell reaction represented in the question is c omposed of two half cell reactions . These reactions are as follows.
At anode `curarrCu^(2+)+2e^(-)`
At cathode `Cl_(2)+2e^(-)rarr2Cl^(-)`
Copper is getting oxidised at anode `Cl_(2)` is getting reduced at cathode.
