Given circuit is

The circuit is equivalent to

Now, given `V_(BC)=48V`
So current through `8Omega` resistor `i_1=V_(BC)/R_(BC)=48/8=6A`
and current through `24Omega` resistor `i_2=V/R=48/24=2A`
Hence, current flowing out of network `J_1+J_2=6+2=8A`
`therefore` Current flowing through XY is 8A
Now, `1/R_(eq)=1/20+1/30+1/60=(3+2+1)/60 implies R_(eq)=60/6=10 Omega`
`1/R_(eq)=1/24+1/8=(1+3)/24 implies R_(eq)=24/4=6Omega`
So, `R_(xy)=3+10+6=19 Omega`, Hence, `V_(xy)=R_(xy)=8 times 19=152V`
