Water flows out through a circular pipe ...

Water flows out through a circular pipe whose internal diameter is 2cm, at the rate of 6 metres per second into a cylindrical tank. The radius of whose base is 60cm. Find the rise in the level of water in 30 minutes?

Diameter of pipe `= 2 cm`
∴ Radius`(r) =2/2=1cm=0.1m`
Length of flow of water in `1` second`= 6 m`
∴Length of flow in `30` minutes
`=6 xx 30 xx 60 m=10800 m`
∴ Volume of water `=πr^2h`
`22/7 xx 0.01 xx 0.01 xx 10800 =2376/700`
∴Volume of water in tank `= 2376/700 m^3`
Radius of the base of tank`(R) = 60 cm=6/10 m`
Let rise of water` = h1`
∴ Volume of water `= πR^2h1 =22/7 xx 6/10 xx 6/10 xx h1`
`792/700 h1=2376/700`
`h1=3m`
∴Rise of water`= 3 m`
