Find the roots of the following quadratic equation: `2/5x^2-x-3/5=0`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`frac{2}{5} {x}^{2}-{x}-frac{3}{5}=0`

`Rightarrow 2 {x}^{2}-5 {x}-3=0 `

`Rightarrow 2 {x}^{2}-6 {x}+1 {x}-3=0 `

`Rightarrow 2 {x}({x}-3)+1({x}-3)=0`

`Rightarrow({x}-3)(2 {x}+1)=0 `

`Rightarrow {x}=3=0 { or } 2 {x}+1=0 `

`Rightarrow {x}=3 { or } 2 {x}=-1 { or } {x}=frac{-1}{2}`

Hence, the roots of the quadratic equation are` 3` and `frac{-1}{2}`
