A tower stands vertically on the ground....

A tower stands vertically on the ground. From a point on the ground, which is `15 m` away from the foot of the tower, the angle of elevation of the top of the tower is found to be `60^@` . Find the height of the tower.

From trigonometric ratios,

`tan theta=frac{text { perpendicular }}{text { base }}`

`tan 60^{circ}=sqrt{3}=frac{text { perpendicular }}{text { base }}=frac{text { height of tower }}{text { distance of point from foot of tower }}`

`sqrt{3}=frac{text { height of tower }}{15}`

`{text { height of tower }}=15 sqrt{3}`

Hence, the calculated height of tower is `15 sqrt{3} m`.
