What will be the following temperatures ...

What will be the following temperatures on the kelvin scale: a. `37^@`, b. `80^@F`, c. `-196^@C`?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

a. Temperature of Kelvin scale `T_(k)` is related to temperature `T_(c)` on Celsius scale as
`T_(k)=T_(c)+273`
or `T_(k)=37+273`
`=310 K`
B. Temperature `T_(k)` on Kelvin scale and `T_(F)` on Fahrenheit scale are related as
`(T_(K)-273)/(373-273)=(T_(F)-32)/(212-32)`
`or `(T_(K)-273)/100=(T_(F)-32)/180`
of `T_(K)=5/9(T_(F)-32)+273`
here `T_(f)=80^(@)F` thus,
`T_(k)=5/9(80-32)+273`
`=299.66K`
c. Again from relation use in part a.
`T_(K)=T_(C)+273`
`=-196+273`
`=77K`
