A weather balloon is inflated with helium. The balloon has a volume of 100 `m^(3)` and it must be inflated to pressure of 0.10 atm. If 50 L gas cylinders of helium at a pressure of 100 atm are used, how many cylinders are needed? Assume that the temperature is constant.

The correct Answer is:
a

(a) Volume of He at 0.1 atm
`P_(1)V_(1)=P_(2)V_(2)`
`50xx100=0.1xxV_(2)`
`V_(2)=50000L`
Volume available for balloon =49950 L
`=49.95 m^(3)`
Volume of balloon `=100 m^(3)`
So, 2 cylinder required.
