How are the quantum numbers n , 1 `m_(1)` for hydrogen atom are obtained ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Atomic number (Z) of hydrogen atom = 1
Its electron configuration is `1s^(1)` . From this configuration it is evident that the electron in 'H' atom involves in 1st orbit with n = 1 .
For an 'S' orbital l = 0 , m = 0 .
`therefore` The four quantum number values for 'H' .
atom are `n=1,l=0,m=0,s=+1//2`
