How much minimum volume of CO at STP is ...

How much minimum volume of CO at STP is needed to react completely with 0.112 L of `O_(2)` at 1.5 atm. Pressure and `127^(@)C` to give `CO_(2)`.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Reaction between CO and `O_(2)`
`2CO+O_(2)to2CO_(2)`
Moles of `O_(2)=(PV)/(RT)=(1.5xx0.112)/(0.0821xx400)=5.11xx10^(-3)`
According to the reaction for every one mole `O_(2)` two moles of CO reacts.
`therefore` The minimum volume of CO required at
STP = `5.11xx10^(-3)xx2=10.22xx10^(-3)`
`rArr10.22xx10^(-3)xx22400=229.32`ml.
