Ganga runs from Gangotri in the Himalayes to Ganga Sagar in the Bay of Bengai. The Ganga Action Plan (GAP) was a program launched in April 1986 in order to reduce the pollution load on the River Ganga. The states involved in Ganga Action Plan are-Uttaranchal, UP, Bihar, West Bengal and Jharkhand.
