At 300 K, the degree of dissociation of 0.066 M solution of an acid HA is 0.0145. What would be its degree of dissociation of 0.02 M solution of the acid at the same temperature?

Applying `alpha = sqrt(K_(a)/C) , rArr 0.0145 = sqrt(K_(b)/(0.066)) `
Let the degree of dissociation of the acid at `0.02` M concentration be `alpha_(1)`.
`alpha_(1) = sqrt(K_(a)/(0.02) )`
Dividing the equations, we get
`alpha_(1)/(0.0145) = sqrt((0.066)/(0.02)) = 1.8166 " or " alpha_(1) = 0.0263 `
