A vessel is filled with an ideal gas at ...

A vessel is filled with an ideal gas at a pressure of 10 atm and temperature `27^@C`. Half of the mass of the gas is removed from the vessel and temperature of the remaining gas is increased to `87^@C`. Then, the pressure of the gas in the vessel will be

A

5atm

B

24atm

C

7atm

D

8atm

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
B

`(P_(1)V_(1))/T_(1) =(P_(2)V_(2))/T_(2)`
`(P_(1)m_(1))/T_(1) = (P_(2)m_(2))/T_(2)` [`because` Density is equal i.e., `rho_(1)=rho_(2)`]
`(10xxm_(1))/((273+27)) = ((P_(2)m_(1))/2)/((273+87))`
`therefore P_(2) = (10xx2xx360)/300 = 24atm`
