A truck of mass `M` is moved under a force `F`. If the truck is then loaded with an object equal to the mass of the truck and the driving force is halved, then how does the acceleration change?

Let, initial mass, `m_(1)=M`
initial force, `F_(1)=F`
According to the question law, new mass, `m_(2)=M+M=2M`
and new force, `F_(2)=(F)/(2)`
From Newton's second law, F=ma
`Rightarrow= a(F)/(m)`
Change in acceleration
`(a_(1))/(a_(2))=(F_(1))/(F_(2))xx(m_(2))/(m_(1))xx(2M)/(M)=(2F)/(F)xx(2m)/(m)=4`
`(a_(1))/(a_(2))=4 Rightarrow 4a_(2)=a_(1)`
`Rightarrow a_(2)=(a_(1))/(4)=(1)/(4)xxa_(1)`
Hence, the new acceleration will be one forth of previous acceleration.
