We know that, in laws of reflection , tha angle of incidence (x) is always equal to the angle of reflection (x).
Since, AOB is a straight line.
`therefore angleAOB=180^(@)`
`therefore 50^(@)+x+x+50^(@)=180^(@)`

`" "(becuase` sum of all angles lies on the same side of aline is `180^(@))`
`2x+100^(@)=180^(@)`
`2x=180^(@)-100^(@)`
`2x=80^(@)`
`x=(80^(@))/(2)`
`x=40^(@)`
Hence , the value of x is `40^(@)`.

A bullet passes past a person at a speed of 220 m s^-1 . Find the fractional change in the frequency of the whistling sound heard by the person as the bullet crosses the person. Speed of sound in air = 330 m s^-1 .

Measurement of sound waves show that the maximum pressure variations in the loudest sound that the ear can tolerate without pain are of the order of 30 Pa. Find the corresponding maximum displacement, if the frequency is 1000 Hz and v = 350 m//s

The faintest sound the human ear can detect at a frequency of 1000 Hz correspond to an intensity of about 1.00xx10^-12(W)/(m^2) , which is called threshold of hearing. The loudest sounds the ear can tolerate at this frequency correspond to an intensity of about 1.00(W)/(m^2) , the threshold of pain. Detemine the pressure amplitude and displacement amplitude associated with these two limits. Take speed of sound =342(m)/(s) and density of air =1.20(kg)/(m^3)

The sound of distant horses can br heard by applying the ear to the ground whereas it is inaudible if the ear is held a little distance above the ground. Explain.

A baby's mouth is 30 cm from her father's ear and 3.0 m from her mother's ear. What is the difference between the sound intensity levels heard by the father and by the mother.

For a person with normal hearing, the faintest sound that can be heard at a frequency of 400 Hz has a pressure amplitude of about 6.0 xx 10^(-5) Pa . Calculate the corresponding intensity and sound intensity lavel at 20^(@) C . (Assume upsilon = 330 m//s and rho _(air) = 1.29 kg //m^(3) ).
