The reaction that is responsible for the primary fixation of `CO_(2)` is catalysed by

A

RuBP carboxylase

B

PEP carboxylase

C

RuBP carboxylase and PEP carboxylase

D

PGA synthase

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
C

( c) In `C_(3)` cycle RuBP craboxylase is used to fix atmospheric `CO_(2)` whereas, in `C_(4)` plants PEP carboxylase is involve in primary `CO_(2)` fixation. So, both are used in `CO_(2)` fixatation but in different cycles.
Other options are incorrect because in (a) and (b) optin is giving incomplete information and option (d) PGA synthase is not at all involved in `CO_(2)` fixation.
