Give two reasons for the appearance of variations among the progeny formed by sexual reproduction.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Variations appear among the progeny formed by sexual reproduction due to following reasons
(i) Sexual reproduction results in new combinations of gene that are brought together during formation of gametes. This reshuffling of genes in the gametes increase the chance of variation in offsprings.
(ii) The combination of two sets of chromosomes, one set from each parent during zygote formation, leads to variation within a species.
