What is the ration between the distance ...

What is the ration between the distance travelled by the oscillator in one time period and amplitude?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The diagram repersents

the motion of a particle executing SHM between A and B.
Total distance travelled while it goes from A to B and returns to A is
`=AB+OB+BO+OA`
`A+A+A+A=4A` `[:'OA=A]`
Amplitude OA=A
Hence, ratio of distance and ampliude `=(4A)/(A)=4`
