`|(a,a^2, 1),(b,b^2, 1),(c,c^2, 1)|+|(a,a^2, a^3),(b,b^2, b^3),(c,c^2, c^3)|=0`

`|(1,a, a^2),(1,b, b^2),(1,c, c^2)|+ abc |(1,a, a^2),(1,b, b^2),(1,c, c^2)|=0`

`(1+abc)|(1,a, a^2),(1,b, b^2),(1,c, c^2)|=0`

The determinant can not be zero, so
`1+abc=0`
`abc=-1`
