A person goes to office either by car, scooter, bus or train probability of which being`1/7, 3/7, 2/7 and 1/7` respectively. Probability that he reaches office late, if he takes car, scooter, bus or train is `2/9, 1/9, 4/9 and 1/9` respectively. Given that he reached office in time, then what is the probability that he travelled by a car?

`1/5`

B

`1/7`

C

`6/7`

D

The correct Answer is:
2

Let C, S, B, T be the events that the person reaching the office in time -
`P(C )=1/7,P(S)=3/7,P(B)=2/7,(T)=1/7`
Let `barL` be the event that the person reaching the office in time -
`P(barL//C)=7/9,P(barL//S)=8/9,`
`(x-1)/(9)=(y-2)/(-1)=(z+3)/(-3)`
`thereforeP(C//barL)=(P(C)P(barL//C))/(P(barL))`
`=(1/7cdot7/9)/(1/7cdot7/9+3/7cdot8/9+2/7cdot5/9+1/7cdot8/9)`
`=7/49=1/7`

A person goes to his office by using different means of transport on different days. It is know that the probabilities that he will come by train, bus, scooter or by car are respectively 1/10, 3/10, 2/10 " and " 4/10 . The probabilities that he will be late are 1/4, 1/5, 1/6, " and " 1/3 if he comes by train, bus, scooter and car respectively, on one day when he reaches office, he is late. What is the probability he has come by train?

A cadiadate has to reach the examination centre in time, Probality of him going by bus or scooter or by other means of transport are (3)/(10),(1)/(10) ,(3)/(5) respectively. The probability of getting late , if the travels by bus is 1/4 ,1/3 if he travells by scooter and 0 for any other medium. But he reaches in time if the uses any mode of transport . He reached late at the centre. The probability that he travelled by bus is -

The probabilities that a Man Makes a journey by car, Motor cycle or on foot are (1)/(2),(1)/(6),(1)/(3) respectively. A doctor is to visit a patient. From the past experience, it is known that the probabilities that he will come by train, bus , scooter or by other means of transportation are respectiely 3/10,1/5,1/10 or 2/5 . The probabilities that he will be late are 1/4,1/3 and 1/12 if he comes by train, bus and scooter respectively but if he comes by other means of transport, then he will not be late. If the arrives late, find the probability that he comes by train.
