A man is travelling on the rod along AB. Find out the length of the road for which the image will be visible to him.

A

`l`

B

`3l`

C

`1.5 l`

D

`2l`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
B

In the ray diagram shown
`Delta AQC ~ Delta DMC`
`x/(l//2)=(3d)/d`
`rArr x=(3l)/2`
`:.` Total length `=(3l)/2+(3l)/2`
`=3l`

Note : Most of the problem in optics involving geometry can be solved by using similar triangles.

A man is travelling on the rod along AB. Find out the length of the road for which the image will be visible to O.

A train(T) is running uniformly on a straight track. A car is travelling with constant speed along section AB of the road which is parallel to the rails. The driver of the car notices that the train is having a speed of 7 m//s with respect to him. The car maintains the speed but takes a right turn at B and travels along BC. Now the driver of the car finds that the speed of train relative of him is 13 m//s . Find the possible speeds of the car.

A rod AB of mass M and length L is lying on a horizontal frictionless surface. A particle of mass m travelling along the surface hits the end A of the rod with a velocity v_(0) in a direction perpendicular to AB. The collision in elastic.
