Find the angle of elevation of the Sun when the shadow of a pole ` h` `m` high is `sqrt3 h` `m` long.

A

`30^@`

B

`45^@`

C

`60^@`

D

`90^@`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
A

Let the angle of elevation of the Sun is `theta`.
Given, height of pole =h
Now, in `DeltaABC`,
`tantheta= (AB)/(BC) = h/(sqrt(3)h)`
`tantheta=1/sqrt(3)= tan30^(@) rArr theta = 30^(@)`
Hence, the angle of elevation of the Sun is `30^(@)`.
