A charged particle would continue to move with a constant velocity in a region wherein,

A

`E=0,B ne0`

B

`E ne0,B ne 0`

C

`Ene0, B=0`

D

`E=0,B=0`

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
A, B, D

Here, force on chrged particle due to electric field `F_(E)=qE`.
Force on charged particle due to magnetic field `F_(m)=q(vxxB)`
Now, `F_(E)=` if `E=0 and F_(m)=0` if `sintheta=0` or `theta^(@)=0^(@)` or `180^(@)`.
Hence, `B ne0`.
Also, `E=0 and B=0` and the resultant force `qE=q(qxxB)=0`. in this case `Ene0` and `Bne0`.

A charged particle moving with a uniform velocity vecv enters a region where uniform electric and magnetic fields vecE and vecB are present. It passes through the region without any change in its velocity. What can we conclude about the (i) relative direction of vecE , vecV and vecB ? (ii) magnetic of vecE and vecB ? or Find the condition under which the charged particle moving with different speeds in the presence of electric and magnetic field vectors can be used to select charged particles of a particular speeds.

If a particle is moving with a constant velocity, what is its acceleration?

Assertion: In successive time intervals if the average velocities of a particle are equal then the particle must be moving with constant velocity. Reason: When a particle moves with uniform velocity, its displacement always increases with time.
