Verify that the cyclotron frequency omeg...

Verify that the cyclotron frequency `omega=eB//m` has the correct dimensions of `[T]^-1`.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

For a charge particle moving perpendiuclar to the magnetic field, te magnetic Lorentz forces provides necessary centripetal force for revolution.
`(mv^(2))/(R)=qvB`
On simpilfyting the terms, we have
`(qB)/(m)=(v)/(R)=omega`
Finding the dimensional formula of angular frequency
`therefore[omega]=[(qB)/(m)]=[(v)/(R)]=[T]^(-1)`.
