There are two sources of light, each emitting with a power of `100W`. One emits X-rays of wavelength `1nm` and the other visible light at `500nm`. Find the ratio of number of photons of X-rays to the photons of visible light of the given wavelength?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Suppose wavelength of X-rays is `lamda_(1)` and the wavelength of visible light is `lamds_(2)`
Given, `" "p=100W`
`" "lamda_(1)=1nm`
and `" "lamda_(2)=500nm`
Also `n_(1) and n_(2)` represents number of photons of X-rays and visible light emitted from the two sources per sec.
So, `" "E/t=pn_(1)(hc)/(lamda_(1))=n_(2)(hc)/(lamda_(2))`
`implies" "(n_(1))/(lamda_(1))=(n_(2))/(lamda_(2))`
`implies" "(n_(1))/(n_(2))=(lamda_(1))/(lamda_(2))=1/500`
