The role of a plane mirror and a glass sheet in a solar cooker are as follows (i) Plane mirror They are used as reflector in solar cookers to focus the maximum rays of the sun into the cooker to achieve a higher temperature. (ii) Glass sheet The transparent glass sheet kept over the open end of the heating devices allows the infrared rays and visible rays to enter the device but does not allow the infrared radiations to move out of the heating device due to increase in the wavelength of radiation inside the cooker and the temperature of heating device rises appreciably.
