The waste material of living things (cattle dung) and dead parts of plants and animals are called bio-mass. It has been a traditional source of energy, e.g., wood, crop residue, bagasse (residue of sugarcane after extracting juice) cow-dung cake are used as fuels for domestic as well as industrial uses. Bioenergy in the form of biogas can be produced from Biomass by the decomposition in the absence of air. Biomass such as wood, cow-dung etc, are directly used as fuel.
