Why do dry apricot placed in salt solution do not swell while they do so when kept in water?

Explanation

Dry apricot swell up in water because their calls have a high osmotic concentration which causes passage of water into them (endosmosis). They do not swell up when placed in salt solution because the external solution is hypertonic.
